Un manejo desorganizado frente a una emergencia, puede transformar la situaci\u00f3n, que de por s\u00ed ya es cr\u00edtica, en un caos, con el perjuicio directo sobre el paciente.\r\n\r\nFrente a patolog\u00edas que comprometen la vida de nuestro paciente, el especialista en Medicina de Emergencias tiene la funci\u00f3n de lograr la adecuada estabilizaci\u00f3n del cuadro, para que posteriormente contin\u00fae el tratamiento definitivo con la especialidad correspondiente.\r\n\r\nEl tiempo es un recurso escaso, que no podemos modificar cuando nos encontramos manejando una emergencia, por este motivo, no tenemos derecho a improvisar. Es por ello que la capacitaci\u00f3n espec\u00edfica, es decir, un programa de entrenamiento en Medicina de Emergencias, se convierte en una necesidad.\r\n\r\nCuando el paciente ingresa es categorizado luego de un m\u00ednimo interrogatorio realizado por un enfermero profesional. Er ist ausgestattet mit modernster Apparatur zur Diagnose und Behandlung von Patienten, deren Leben unmittelbar bedroht ist: Beatmungsapparate, Schrittmacher, Defibrillator, Kehlkopfspiegel und Endotrachealtubus. Muchos de los pacientes recibidos en el Servicio de Emergencias resuelven su patolog\u00eda luego de algunas horas de observaci\u00f3n, cuando se realiza un diagn\u00f3stico o se clarifica el cuadro. Los pacientes permanecen en general entre dos y seis horas, nunca m\u00e1s de 24 horas, plazo antes del cual ser\u00edan internados.\r\n\r\nLa Unidad de Observaci\u00f3n posee todo el equipamiento para monitoreo de signos vitales, monitoreo card\u00edaco, monitoreo de saturaci\u00f3n de ox\u00edgeno, oxigenoterapia y aspiraci\u00f3n central, adem\u00e1s de cardiodesfibrilador bif\u00e1sico. Tambi\u00e9n cuenta con todos los elementos anexos para mantener estabilizado al paciente, as\u00ed como los necesarios para el tratamiento en la emergencia.\r\n\r\nEn la Unidad ingresan para evaluaci\u00f3n diagn\u00f3stica pacientes con dolor abdominal o precordial, cefalea grave, s\u00edncope, intoxicaci\u00f3n, cuadros de dif\u00edcil diagn\u00f3stico, evaluaci\u00f3n inicial de sangrado gastrointestinal y vaginal. Tambi\u00e9n lo hacen personas para tratamientos de corto plazo para c\u00f3licos renales, reacciones al\u00e9rgicas, crisis hipertensivas, deshidrataci\u00f3n, asma, pielonefritis, depresi\u00f3n o
